iSEODANG Korean Academy
"SEODANG" refers to private village schools that provided elementary education during the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties (the old ages of Korea). These schools were cultural hubs in villages. The teachers at these schools, known as "hunjangnims,” played a significant role as respected adults in the community. They assisted illiterate villagers by composing petitions and took a stand to guide those who were marginalized onto the right path.
Now, iSEODANG, which can be called the international SEODANG, inherits the spirit of the early SEODANG, serving not only as language instructors but also playing a leading role in promoting Korean culture worldwide.
